With 23 Grand Slam championships, Serena Williams has been named the greatest female tennis player of all time in the Tennis Channel’s rankings.

Serena Williams has won 23 Grand Slam titles in singles. The most recent Grand Slam she won was the 2017 Australian Open. This helped her surpass the Steffi Graf record and behind Margaret Court (24 titles) in the Century. She is also the most American Open champion along with fellow countryman Chris Evert with 6 crowns.

Serena also holds the record for ranked number 1 in the world for the most consecutive weeks (186 weeks). Not stopping there, during his glorious career, 38-year-old Serena Williams also won 16 Grand Slam titles in doubles and 4 Olympic gold medals.

Martina Navratilova is ranked second on this list

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is ranked second on this list. Czech-American 59 Grand Slam titles, including 18 singles titles, 31 doubles titles, and 10 doubles titles. These are the most numerous in the Open Era. Navratilova, along with Margaret Court and Doris Hart, is three players who have won the Grand Slam title in all three events: singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

With 377 weeks at No. 1 in the world, German tennis player Steffi Graf is 3rd on this list. Graf is the only player in tennis history to win the Golden Slam that has all four Grand Slam singles titles, and winning Olympic singles gold medal in the same year. Not even Serena Williams could do.

Sharapova is also on the list of greatest female tennis players

18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert comes in fourth. She followed by 12-time Grand Slam champion Billie Jean King in fifth and Margaret Court in 6th place.

Monica Seles, who won nine Grand Slam titles are in seventh place, followed by seven-time Grand Slam champion. Venus Williams is in eighth and Justine Henin in ninth place. ‘Russian Doll’ Maria Sharapova, who retired at the beginning of this year, came in 10th place.
